Happy father’s day. While this sentiment is pure, earnest, and from the heart, it doesn’t have the necessary zip or gravitas to honor you appropriately.
Father of the month would be a shabby upgrade. Father of the year? Cliché and a kick to the shin. Father of the Olympiad (four years)? Save it for Usain Bolt! Father of the decade? Tepid and timid. So, we arrive at father of the century with more hope, more anticipation than a group of costumed trick-or-treaters on a suburban doorstep. Now we are talking. Father of the century it is, unanimously-decided by me but with world-wide consensus complete with bold newspaper headlines.
Dad you are everything a father must be: provider, adviser, and foremost, an inspiration for all who know you. You probably don’t realize this, but the way you are living your life is an inspiration to your family, your friends, and even to those who don’t know you. You make it look effortless and you ask for nothing in return. For that, you are father of the century.
Thank you for being the father you must be. Thank you for your love, your support, and your inspiration.
